The interesting post appeared recently in the blog of the leader of the National Organization of Russian Muslims Vadim Sidorov where it was said that another activist of the Russian movement embraced Islam in prison. The appeal of the post is clear – we face a tendency, will fail to avoid it and in the end all passion people would turn Mohammedan and revive Russia. But obviously will revive in the form of Caliphate. Vadim Sidorov comments on the news: "I remember that not so long ago I promised to Right Islamophobes few surprises in their surroundings this year. So, I think they are just the beginning ... "
After the incident with the murder of Yuri Volkov and conflict in the camp "Don" the Islamists do not have any prospects in the Russian movement. They can recruit a certain number of supporters among the most marginalized groups, but the mainstream of the Russian movement would never accept such tendencies.
In 2004, we have already addressed to the issue of Islamization on the pages of the magazine “Russian Obraz”. Time has shown that we had correctly diagnosed the problem and over the years such a phenomenon as the "Russian Muslims" had become only more noticeable, and these trends seriously affected the right movement. Then, in 2004, hardly anyone could believe that in few years Russian nationalists would seriously discuss the acceptability of Islamic alternative for themselves. However, today it has become a reality.
Once in Belgrade with a cup of coffee on Skadarlija I communicated with comrades from fraternal Serbian Obraz. After certain time we were joined by a young man, whose a classmate, who was introduced with very uncharacteristic name for Belgrade. The guy’s name was Ibrahim. He was from the family of “poturchentsy”. Of course, conversation turned to religion, ancestry, and other lofty matters. Ibrahim uniquely determined himself as the Turk. In fact he said they were Turkish settlers who came to the Balkans from Turkey and were subjected to become Slavs, it was only Faith which preserved. Interestingly, such a position was declared during the conversation with me - with the Russian, whom he sees for the first time in his life. But to his friends, he admits other position saying, yes, we are “poturchentsy”, ancestors turn Mohhamedan, but in the ancestral village, in a house in the far corner of the loft there are 300-year-old icons which are gathering dust. Family heirloom. What does this mean? Serious internal conflict, which is typical of all “poturchentsy” from Balkans – who are mostly referred to as "Bosnian" nation.
Short excursus. From where the "Bosnian" nation appeared. Bosniaks. Bosnia - the land in the center of the Balkans has long inhabited by Slavs since olden times. Western Slavs took the Roman Catholic version of Christianity and are now known to us as the Croats. Those who lived in the east adopted the Byzantine Orthodox Church and are now known to us as the Serbs. After the occupation of the Balkans by nomadic Ottomans the active Islamization of the Slavic population started. Ottoman Empire granted tax incentives to the Muslims, but probably that was not even the main thing. Muslims do not suffer hardships of "zuluma” - oppression suffered by all the Christian subjects to the Ottoman Empire. “Poturchentsy” preferred to call themselves "Turks" - actually, both called themselves all Muslims - the Ottoman Turks. The moment that their ancestors had once changed the belief due to selfish reasons, was forcing out from generation to generation, and lived only in the depths of consciousness among the most educated members of these "Turks". Until 1878 Bosnia was part of the Ottoman Empire. Then it was part of the Christian Austro-Hungary. Preferences for Turks Bosniaks were terminated. In many respects, the horrible massacre of Serbs during the Second World was caused in particular by idealistic memories of happy times of the Turkish power in the Ottoman Empire. When the "Vlachs" were second-class citizens, and all power belonged only to Muslims. After the war, Josip Broz Tito proclaimed the ideology of "brotherhood and unity". Within this ideology the Turks obtained the new politically correct name - "Muslims". In 1972 under this name they appeared in the census of Yugoslavia. The faith became nationality. That is why during the Bosnian war of 1992 - 1995 years together fought three peoples - Serbs, Croats and Bosnian Muslims.
Very neatly the split of consciousness of “poturchentsy” is described by Serbian writer and politician Vuk Drashkovic in his book "Knife". Below are few excerpts from this work:
Son: Mom, why do we talk on their (Serbian) language? Mama, do you know Turkish?
Mother: How I can, my son, I did not go to school.
Son: and grandfather knows?
Mother: of course no.
Son: Well, somebody I mean from Osmanovichi knows?
Mother: Yes, the late khodzha Velia knew he would have taught you, but he was killed by Vlachs (Serbs), let God damn all them.
Son: mother, but still why do we talk in Serbian?
Mother: Go sleep boy, less ill will.
Many years passed. The boy Alia grew up, but the question why they, the Turks, speak Vlachs language was still actual. He continued to look for his roots, learn about his ancestry. And finally the fate has brought him to the very educated representative - Khodzha Effendi.
Khodzha Effendi: How could we sort out ourselves? Who is the executioner and who is the victim?
Alia: What does it mean to sort out? Why do you say that? We're always will be divided - we are we and they are they. We are Osmanovichi. They are Jugovići.
Khodzha Effendi: Have a smoke. If we are own, then why there is no cross near the crescent here? Do you know to whom the sultan gave that (holding the cigarette case).
Alia: no.
Khodzha Effendi: To my ancestor, Djuro Barbarich (this is a Christian name - approx. Author).
Alia: What Djuro, are you making mock on me, honorable?
Khodzha Effendi: Djuro. My great-great-grandfather, Djuro Barbarich, converted to Islam and became Safet Begbarbarich. and he accepted it because the Turk had been trying to take his wife. And in order to protect her, he took our faith.
Alia: Efendi, I came to you to explain my letter and you are talking about your origins.
Khodzha Effendi: I’ telling you about your background. Together with my Djuro there was your great-grandfather, Elijah Jugović in Istanbul.
Alia: What Elijah, what are you talking about?
Khodzha Effendi: You know that the Christian children used to be turned Mohammedan and taken in Istanbul, in the Janissaries. And that was the way your great-great-grandfather Elijah Jugović became Aliya Osmanovich. And so you have become Osmanovichi.
Alia: How do you know?
Khodzha Effendi: It is strange for me not to know that. He built a mosque when he had come back here in Osmanovichi, and for parents - the church in Jugovići. So Osmanovichi and Jugovići have relationships of godparents.
But the most vivid reflection of the tragedy of the Islamization of the Slavs was made by poet, writer, governor and Metropolitan of Montenegro Pyotr Negosh in his poem "Gorski vjenats”. A poem depicts in dramatic forms the historic event the end of XVII century - beating of “Poturchentsy” by Montenegrins:
Velikashi, their souls are cursed,
The kingdom was crashed into the fractured pieces,
Serb forces crashed the kingdom!
Velikashi, wretched unfortunates
Have become a kind of traitors!
Many disappointed in the Russian people are looking for salvation in alien things. They say we need religion of the strong. Here we go - Mohammedanism - religion of the strong, we accept it and immediately become the same as Vainakhs. That is the way of thinkink of those who make the choice for themselves and betray the faith of their ancestors. On "Hunafa" (hunafa.com - informational site of Vilayat Galgayche Caucasus Emirate) we can often see comments of people who position themselves as “Russian mudzhaidy”. Late Sheikh Abu Saeed Saad - Alexander Tikhomirov, being himself half-Russian – half-Buryat, loved to talk about them on his video sermons.
New ideologist from the same site with a complicated name of Abu T Tanvir Caucasian, apparently also of Russian origin comes into online discussions with Russian nationalists.. LJ user “skoro-skoro” in the post with the provocative headline "Kufr asks" appealed to Mujahidins with a number of questions which were answered on "Hunafa" under the heading "Answers to Kufr" The scholar Sheikh also responded to my comment. Here is what he wrote:
But the most truthful comment was left by Russian: "If Christloving NATO is against Abu Tanvir (ie, followers of the Quran and Sunnah - AT), the honest Russians (in the wording of the Russian nationalists - Russian kafirs - A . T.) will be absolutely on NATO side". Indeed, with all their hatred to each other kafirs are united in their hatred for Islam. And further: And only Russians who were converted to Islam, will be saved, because in Islam all believers are equal, regardless of nationality.
The staff of the shattered Bashkir Jamaat Caucasus Emirate in spring in Oktyabrskiy-town was half Russian. The conclusion - yes, the trend is there. But what the future will be offered by the Russian-born “poturchentsy” to their followers? What will happen to their children? Life in the Caliphate and the tales that let’s say we are Chechens (Avars, Circassians and so on) just with some Slavonic features? The situation when absolutely everyone knows the truth, but no one opens the mouth. When the severity of treason is laying on all the people, but no one speaks aloud. The example of Bosnian Muslims with the split consciousness, perfectly shows the prospects of all potential “poturchentsy”.
And most important - the Muslim idea (in its Salafi / Wahhabi recension) is totally universalist. The subject of revival of Russia, nation disappears as inappropriate. In their perspective, there is no nation at all. There is just global ummah. In the form of a caliphate, or some kind of association of jamaats, it is not important, there will be predominantly non-white element. And it would sink and dissolve the white race and the Russian people without a trace. Russian people converting into Islam – are traitors. And that’s it. It is impossible simultaneously to fight for the universal triumph of Islam and to believe that the European Christian traditional values – are the values of superhuman plan. Their homogenization, dissolution inevitably leads to the new Babylon and Sodom.
