Mark Feygin and Nikolay Polozov, the lawyers who defended Pussy Riot female punk band members, have taken the case of Russian nationalist Ilya Goryachev charged with formation of the BORN extremist community, which members were involved in murders on ideological grounds. Ilya Goryachev denies his complicity with these crimes and claims that his case is politically motivated. Mark Feygin and Nikolay Polozov adhere to the same opinion.
Mark Feygin told the “Slon” magazine reporter, why he decided to defend Ilya Goryachev.
“Slon” magazine has already reported that Goryachev’s arrest may be connected with Russia's deputy prime minister Vladislav Surkov retirement and the process of gaining a discrediting information about the Russian Presidential Administration's former officials, who under Surkov’s rule had established ties with nationalists. In 2000-s Goryachev was a leader of the Russky Obraz movement that was thought to be close to Kremlin.
